Ann Romney drew a crowd of mostly women to a packed ballroom Wednesday.

By lunchtime, a row of news trucks was lined up outside of the . Supporters trickled in and wrapped around the building to hear Romney, the wife of Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, speak.

At about 3 p.m. the doors opened, and people filled the ballroom space. At least 450 filled the ballroom, and at least 100 more were in an overflow area for the event, which organizers are calling .

Ann Romney's message was filled with real life personal stories. She shared how Mitt Romney led by example taking their sons to encourage a dying friend. She shared how Mitt was always their during her darkest hours including a battle with breast cancer.

Many came from the Largo area, and they came for many reasons — some because they see Ann Romney as down to earth.

"I think (Ann Romney's) fantastic. She's a real person, a wife, a mother, first. She's human not trying to be impressive," said Pat Canning, of St. Pete Beach, who was one of the first in line.

Some came for the future.

"I am here for my three grandchildren to ensure they have a bright future. With Mitt Romney as president, that will happen," said Liz Dodds, of Largo.

Some came because of Ann Romney's perseverance.

"I think she's a wonderful role model. She's a breast cancer survivor. She has Mutiple Sclerosis ... she gives off a 'live life to the fullest' vibe," said Maura Driscoll, of Largo.

One Largo man who came was there for his daughters.

"Four years ago we were at a Romney rally in St. Pete. We came because she is a good example for my girls ages 10 and 9," Dennis Pemberton said.
