Car Plows Into Largo Post Office

No injuries were reported in the Tuesday morning crash on 8th Avenue.

Largo, FL — The Largo Post Office doesn’t offer drive-through service, but it was hard to tell that Tuesday morning.

According to the Largo Police Department, a motorist plowed through the front windows at the 50 8th Ave. S.W. post office early Tuesday morning. The crash forced a temporary suspension of postal operations “as officials tended to the logistics associated with the impromptu drive through,” the agency noted on Facebook.

No one was injured during the crash, the agency noted. Both the Largo police and fire departments responded to the scene.

By about 9 a.m. Tuesday, the post office was back open for business as usual, police said.

“Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow, or even cars can stop the mail,” the police department’s Facebook post noted.

Only a few details about the crash are available at this time. Lt. Paul Amodeo said the preliminary investigation indicates it was a "case of pedal misapplication."

It remains unclear if the woman behind the wheel will face a citation.
