Largo Police Arrest Suspect After Chase

A transient, who police say led them on a chase in a stolen vehicle, was arrested on charges of fleeing/eluding officers and driving without a valid license late Saturday night.

A spokesperson for Clearwater Police says around 11:20 p.m. Saturday night, officers received a BOLO from Largo Police about a suspect involved in an armed home invasion robbery and carjacking in Largo.

A short time later, Clearwater Police officers spotted the stolen vehicle in the area of Belcher Rd. and Logan St. Authorities say the driver, Aaron Joseph Wilson, 18, took off when he saw police. Officers then pursued the vehicle.

Wilson stopped and surrendered on Belcher Rd., just south of Gulf to Bay Blvd. While Wilson was being removed from the stolen vehicle, it coasted into a police cruiser causing minor damage.

Wilson was booked into the Pinellas County Jail early Sunday morning.

The Largo Police Department has charged Wilson with home invasion robbery, grand theft, delinquent felon in possession of a weapon, and no valid driver's license.

His bond is set at $100,250.
