Police: Naked Man Tries to Steal Car Near McGough Nature Park

A naked man was arrested after allegedly trying to steal at Jeep near George C. McGough Nature Park in Largo.

According to the arrest affidavit, 42-year-old Jason Skinner, of Indian Rocks Beach, was seen by witnesses walking naked through the park around 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 16.

A witness, according to the police report, then followed Skinner as he was walking eastbound in the 14000 block of Walsingham Road. There, the witness saw Skinner get into and attempt to steal the 2004 Jeep.

The affidavit said before Largo Police officers approached Skinner, they saw him walking from the Jeep carrying only a black umbrella that he had just stolen from the vehicle.

Police then ordered Skinner, of 7161 1st St. Unit A, Indian Rocks Beach, to stop walking, at which point he allegedly ran from police until he was tackled by a citizen who witnessed the incident.

Skinner was charged with burglary, resisting an officer without violence and prowling.
