3 Escape Injury in Yacht Fire
The fire occurred near the Broad Causeway and Indian Creek late Friday morning.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — Three people escaped injury on Friday after their 48-foot yacht caught fire near the Broad Causeway and Indian Creek.

Erika Benitez of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue told Patch that both of the department's two fireboats responded to the 11 a.m. call.

"The 48-foot Sea Ray experienced an engine room fire that was quickly mitigated by fire crews," she told Patch. "Engine room fires can quickly spread causing rapid damage to the vessel and at times, making the boat sink."

No one was injured in the fire.
The Indian Creek Police Department, SeaTow and the Miami-Dade Police Department's Marine Patrol also responded to the scene.
