State Attorney Worker Found Dead In Broward Courthouse

Broward County authorities discovered the man dead after receiving a call shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday, reports said.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL — A Broward State Attorney’s Office worker was found dead at the county courthouse Wednesday night, according to officials and reports.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office told the Miami Herald that authorities discovered the man's body after receiving a call shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday.

In an email to staff members obtained by Patch, State Attorney Harold Pryor identified the employee as 55-year-old Daniel Miranda, a long-time member of the agency's Digital Evidence Unit.

"Danny worked hard and was always happy to offer a helping hand to any of us who needed anything," Pryor said in the letter. "We are in shock and we are grieving. Danny will be missed in our office, in our community, and our justice system."

Pryor continued, “We offer our sincerest condolences to Danny’s wife and family and we are praying for them during this very sad time.”

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the death, a state attorney's office spokesperson said. Authorities do not suspect foul play, reports said.

Grief counseling will be available to staff Friday when the courthouse reopens, officials said.
