WATCH NOW: McDonald's Plans to Honor Hero Drive-Thru Worker
The Miami area drive-thru worker jumped through the service window to help an off-duty Miami-Dade County police officer.

DORAL, FL — McDonald's is planning something special for a 22-year-old drive-thru worker who jumped through the service window to help save an off-duty Miami-Dade County police officer on Tuesday but the chain is not saying yet what that might be.
Surveillance video of Pedro Viloria jumping through the open service window has gone viral as he and another McDonald's worker are being credited with helping to save the life of a female officer as she experienced an unspecified medical emergency while her two children watched helplessly from inside her car.

Viloria, who told news crews that his brain went into "hero mode," can be seen in surveillance video first looking at the officer's car as it appeared to roll forward, then spinning around while he contemplated his next move before bracing himself on both sides of the frame and leaping out of the service window with both feet off the ground in one fluid movement.

"I thought if these kids lose their mother today that’s going to be tragic," Viloria told news crews. "It is what a hero does. If I would have need to die to save that woman I would have done it."
Alex Menendez, who owns the McDonald’s franchise where the incident occurred is "absolutely" planning something special to reward Viloria, according to a spokeswoman for the chain, who said that the owner wants to keep the details private for the time being.
Menendez said in a statement that a second employee, who asked to remain anonymous, also helped with CPR on the officer. The officer is reportedly recovering in the hospital.
In addition to the McDonald's employees, there were two Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue firefighters in the restaurant at the time who rushed to assist the off-duty officer, according to the agency's Erika Benitez.
