Clubs Collecting Books For Troops

Project will benefit soldiers. Donations are needed.

Clubs Collecting Books For Troops

Books for Troops is a GFWC New Tampa Junior Woman’s Club and GFWC New Tampa Juniorettes project whose goal is to collect and ship one thousand books to deployed troops during the month of October.

The (and Carrollwood) as well as Bangs and Blondes LLC in Wesley Chapel are serving as collection points.

Patricia Murphy, project chairwoman, said 121 books were already collected last weekend at the Hunter's Green Trash & Treasure sale.

“I’d like to encourage everyone in Tampa to visit one of our business partners and drop off their used paperback books," Murphy said. "Just look for the blue box and our partners will accept your donations.”

Books for Troops will initially support troops in Afghanistan but has far reaching potential. "Based on the response from the community I can see this project supporting troops in international and domestic service, veterans’ hospitals or nursing homes,” Murphy has said.
