Private Plane Crashes On Take-Off At Plant City Airport

The pilot and passenger of an airplane that crashed on take-off at the Plant City Airport sustained only minor injuries.

PLANT CITY, FL -- The pilot and passenger of an airplane that crashed on take-off at the Plant City Airport sustained only minor injuries.

According to the Plant City Police Department, the crash occurred at 12:55 a.m. when the plane failed to clear a perimeter fence on the west side of the airport property near Turkey Creek Road.

The airplane crashed in a field west of Turkey Creek Road. Both the pilot and passenger refused treatment from Plant City Fire Rescue.

The Federal Aviation Administration will conduct an independent investigation. A representative from the airport responded as well and secured the airplane for the FAA investigation.

The names of the pilot and passenger, both men, are not being released pending the FAA investigation.
