Update: 10-Year-Old Boy Missing Returned To Mother

Update: Deputies have found Taquan Riley and have returned the boy to his mother.

Earlier: The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a missing 10-year-old boy who was last seen riding his bike on 17th street in Sarasota at 11:30 p.m., Saturday night.

Taquan C. Riley of 2525 Chilk Ave., in Newtown Estates is described as a black male, 4 feet 9 inches tall, 80 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a SpongeBob SquarePants jacket, black gym shorts, red and black sneakers and riding an orange bike, according to the sheriff's office.

Foul play is not suspected as Taquan has run away before and had argued with family last night, according to the sheriff's office, but authorities are taking each runaway case seriously and are putting every effort in to find the child.

Detectives issued an “A Child Is Missing” alert, which sends an urgent message to all phone numbers within a quarter-mile mile radius of the child’s home, and his mother has checked with friends and family, but no one has seen Taquan, according to the sheriff's office. A photo of Taquan is expected to be released soon for the public to help find Taquan.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number, 316-1201, or call 911.
