Ashton To Stage 'Aladdin Jr.'

Ashton Elementary School will ready for a magic carpet ride this week.

At Ashton Elementary, the curtain will rise on Disney’s Aladdin Jr., a stage adaptation of the animated film, at 1 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, May 23 and 24, for Ashton students. The show will also be performed at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 24, in the school cafeteria for parents and other community members. Admission is free.

The production features a cast of almost 70 students from kindergarten through fifth grade, including a full chorus and a magic carpet that actually flies.

“Our young actors have been working hard since March,” said Assistant Principal Jacob Ruscoe, who is directing the play. “I believe our families and friends will be amazed at the high quality of theater they will experience.”

Ashton Elementary School is located at 5110 Ashton Road, Sarasota.
