‘Tis the season for giving, and CineBistro in Hyde Park Village is now accepting donations for Toys for Tots.
The drive kicked off this week and will last through Dec. 16. As an added incentive, each donated toy will qualify the donor to enter into a sweepstakes drawing. The grand prize is free movies for one year, plus a $250 food voucher; second prize is two movie passes and a $50 food voucher; and third prize is a pair of movie passes.
“We want as many (toys) as possible but we don’t have a set goal in mind,” CineBistro spokeswoman Emily Gober said of the drive.
Run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, the Toys for Tots program began in 1947. It has distributed more than 452 million toys during that time, according to its website.
CineBistro is accepting toys that would be suitable for children up to age 12. Donations must be unopened and unwrapped. No fake weapons or food. Collection bins are located inside the theaters.
Donors receive a free appetizer for dropping off a toy worth $15 or more (receipt must be provided).
