Tampa Man Shoots, Kills Intruder

The Tampa Police Department says no charges have been filed in the fatal Tuesday afternoon shooting.

TAMPA, FL — A 40-year-old Tampa resident shot and killed an intruder inside his Central Avenue home Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Tampa Police Department, Christopher Solomon was inside his home at 2110 N. Central Ave. around 12:45 p.m. when he heard what sounded like someone forcing their way into his back door.

"Solomon armed himself and went downstairs where he discovered a stranger in the kitchen area of the house," police wrote in an email to meida.

Solomon told officers he was in fear for his life and fired several shots at the intruder.

The intruder, police say, died at the scene. The man's identity is not being released by police, pending next of kin notification.

Police say Solomon has not been arrested or charged at this time.

"As is routine in such cases, the facts will be sent to the State Attorneys Office for review," the email noted.
