USF vs UCONN Game to Honor the Reigning Miss Tampa

Game events on Oct. 15 will recognize Morgan Boykin, the reigning Miss Tampa, and her battle with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome.

Tampa, FL - Saturday’s USF vs UCONN game at Raymond James Stadium will give fans more than a rivalry showdown, it will also highlight the very real fight the reigning Miss Tampa is in battling with the debilitating condition Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS).

Morgan Boykin, the reigning Miss Tampa and USF Feature Twirler, will be recognized at halftime before an expected crowd of 25-30,000 fans. She will be honored by her USF family to show support as she was recently diagnosed with a severe case of POTS, a common form of dysautonomia which is an umbrella term for several malfunctions of the autonomic system.

More than 70 million people around the world suffer from dysautonomia which knows no common age, gender, race or set of conditions. Symptoms include: fainting, fatigue, palpitations, and brain fog. Symptoms range from life-altering to life-threatening and patients wait an average of six years for proper diagnosis due to gaps in medical training. Locally, The Dysautonomia Project is working to bridge these gaps and has directly benefitted patients including Morgan.

The Dysautonomia Project (TDP) is a Tampa Bay-based non-profit organization that reaches physicians and patients with life-changing information and resources. Started by an area resident who suffers from dysuatonomia, TDP has a mission to fight dysautonomia through education and awareness. It’s award winning book, The Dysautonomia Project, is reaching physicians and patients globally.
