Video: 1 Person Badly Injured In Boat Fire Off Davis Islands
Two people on the boat were able to escape and make it to shore.
TAMPA, FL — One person was badly burned Monday afternoon when a boat caught fire off Davis Islands.
According to Tampa Fire Rescue, fire crews arrived shortly after 4:30 p.m. and found a 30-foot boat on fire. The boat had been moored in the Seaplane Basin south of Peter O. Knight Airport but broke away from the mooring when the fire erupted.
Two people on the boat were able to escape and make it to shore. One was transported to Tampa General Hospital as a trauma alert after sustaining burns.

The incident commander used land-based engine companies as well as the fireboat Patriot to extinguish the flames.
The fire marshal is investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
