Body Found Near St. Pete School Bus Stop Identified

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A teenager walking to a school bus stop in the Alta Mar at Broadwater apartments Thursday morning made a grisly discovery.

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, the teen found the body of a man in the 3856 34th Terrace S. complex’s parking lot around 5:27 a.m. The victim has since been identified as Shermaun Akins, 32.

Akins, the police department said, lived in the complex. He died of upper body trauma, the agency reported in an email to media.

No further information is being released at this time.
