Ground-breaking success for TT Community Garden vine planting on Saturday

Special thanks to everyone who showed up and pitched in. We were delighted to have Paola, Greco STEM student who won the garden design competition, bring her mom and dad to see the site of the new garden she helped lay the ground work for!
We had some great student helpers passing out bookmarks and signing up a new member. New volunteers Benjamin Glow helped out along with his dad Andy. Christine donated the canopy tent we used to sign up new members and present water petitions; Bear and Andy capped all the T’s and installed the corner pipe that will control the micro-irrigation for the newly planted vines. John Brady and new volunteer/Greco mom Kastine built two new wheelbarrows with help from Mimi and Colleen. Thanks to everyone who helped plant the vines, Ellen, Shara, Mimi, Tanja, Jeanne, with donations from Jai, Tanja and Grant, we planted pigeon pea, passion fruit and grape vines. And Colleen, who helped out everywhere and is watering the vines until we get the micro-irrigation hooked up! And last but not least, Cheri and Ann for showing up on a Saturday morning to talk with potential new members about the garden!

Upcoming TTCG events:
June 4, 6pm – join your fellow TTCG gardeners to support the bat tower by attending the city council meeting Tuesday night
June 10, 9am-12noon – Tampa Heights and TTCG members volunteer to answer phones at WMNF community radio, two openings left
June 15, 2pm – TTCG Planning Committee meeting, please attend if you have an interest in serving, we have several openings
July 4, 10am – march in the TT Parade with TTCG; contact Jamie Malloy, coordinator, for details: jamie.f.malloy@facebook.com
