Betsey Giammattei, the Temple Terrace resident who created a music video for her original song, “Papercut Houses & Trees,” performed at the White House in December.

Giammattei, a 2012 graduate of King High School’s International Baccalaureate (IB) program, is now a freshman at Barnard College in New York City. Barnard is Columbia University’s liberal arts college for women. Giammattei is a member of Columbia’s Uptown Vocal, one of several a cappella groups at the school.

“Uptown Vocal is Columbia’s premier co-ed Jazz/Pop Acapella Group,” the description on  Columbia’s a cappella groups webpage reads. “We perform from our repertoir of both Jazz and Pop songs in many on-campus concerts, and also act as representatives of Columbia University when we perform at off-campus private events and concerts at other colleges and universities.”

Thanks, Beth, and congratulations, Betsey!
