By Kristal Dixon

An abandoned house in southwest Cherokee County was destroyed by a fire last week.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structural fire call shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17 on Bells Ferry Road at West Pine Ridge Drive in Acworth.

Squad 1 reported seeing heavy smoke in the area as soon as they left the station. Once they arrived onto the scene, the home was "fully involved," the agency said in a press release.

The house appeared to be abandoned and was completely destroyed by the afternoon fire.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
