Acworth schools will be among the 40 Cobb schools in Saturday's competition at McEachern.

Acworth Students Vie in Reading Bowl

The 6th Annual Cobb County School District Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl takes place on Saturday, and Acworth schools will be well-represented.

The fast-paced academic competition, which uses a game show-style buzzer system to answer questions about books, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at McEachern High School.

The following schools will be represented:

  • Elementary: Big Shanty, Birney, Brown, Brumby, Clarkdale, Davis, Eastvalley, Ford, Hayes, Hendricks, Intermediate Smyrna Academy, Keheley, Kemp, Kincaid, LaBelle, Lewis, Norton Park, Shallowford Falls, Still, Teasley, Tritt.
  • Middle: Campbell, Cooper, Dodgen, East Cobb, Hightower, Lost Mountain, Lovinggood, Mabry McCleskey, McClure, Smitha, Tapp.
  • High: Hillgrove, Kennesaw Mountain, McEachern, North Cobb, Osborne, Sprayberry, Walton.

The competition is preceded by a parade of schools. The top two winning teams from each level advance to next level. The state competition takes place in March.
