Most of Georgia, including Acworth, is in for a deluge as two rounds of heavy rain likely start Thursday and continue through Tuesday, so get your rain boots and umbrellas ready.

Two to four inches have already fallen on north since the beginning of February, prompting concerns of flash flooding, extensive street flooding and isolated significant flooding, according to the National Weather Service's Hydrologic Outlook, which covers Acworth and a slew of other cities in north and central Georgia.

Storms systems moving in and expected to bring moisture into the Gulf are to blame. Widespread rain is expected early Friday through Saturday along with periods of heavy rain again Monday, which should end by Tuesday morning.

Areas south of a line from Rome to Cumming to Homer could see 4 to 6 inches of rain or more, while north Georgia may get 1 to 3 inches. Higher amounts in some areas are possible.

In Acworth, expect heavy rain Thursday mainly after 10 p.m., then showers through Saturday, but Sunday should be sunny with temps in the low 60s, according to the NWS forecast. There's a 50 percent chance of rain on Monday and a 20 percent chance of rain on Tuesday.
