Alpharetta police made a drug possession arrest early Saturday morning after seeing a Jeep parked at a shopping plaza that had no open businesses at that early hour.

The officer reported in his incident report that the couple was seen at 800 North Main Street at 1:29 a.m. Oct. 26. He saw wiring in the back of the vehicle. Based on recent burglaries and thefts of copper from wiring and the vehicle leaving the business center at that time, he stopped it in the BP gas station.

The driver told the officer she was coming from McFarland and was on her way to take the passenger and herself home on Academy Street. Both suspects had different stories about the wiring.

The officer asked permission to search the car, which was granted. Another officer found a plastic baggie containing suspected drugs inside it in the front driver side door compartment. Both driver and passenger said the drugs were not theirs.

An opened and unused syringe was found in the car as well, plus two pills that weren't in prescription bottles.

Amy Renae Young, 42, of Academy Street, Alpharetta, and Craig Davant Young, 50, of Northforke CT, Tucker, were charged with possession of Schedule II controlled substance. A second charge was dismissed.
