The Department of Public Safety anticipates future paid openings, and wants more reserve officers.

Alpharetta Seeks Police Officer Candidates

Alpharetta wants to expand its pool of potential paid and volunteer police officer candidates, so physical agility and written tests will be held March 30. The deadline to apply is March 15, and any applications received after that date will not be considered.

The applicant testing process is open to both certified and uncertified applicants, according to a notice from the city.

"While the City of Alpharetta does not have any current positions open or available, the Department of Public Safety maintains a pool of eligible potential candidates for future consideration when and if positions do become available," according to the release from the city. Some new openings in the near future are anticipated, if approved by the City Council.

Are you looking to join the city's police reserve unit? The Department of Public Safety is seeking five candidates to appoint to the police reserve unit. This is a volunteer non-compensated appointment but the agency will pay for the successful candidates to attend Reinhardt University’s Public Safety Institute police academy located in Alpharetta.

Those uncertified and certified applicants interested in employment must take the physical agility test and written test to be considered for employment. The next physical and written testing period will begin on Saturday, March 30, at 8 a.m. Anyone late on that date will be dismissed from testing. Report to the Alpharetta Community Center located at 175 Roswell St., Alpharetta 30009 with valid photo identification.

The public safety eligibility disqualifiers from employment can be found on the City of Alpharetta website.

All applications must be received in the Office of Professional Standards by March 15, 2013 at 5 p.m., or they will not be considered.
