Good news for Fulton County water and sewer customers: Fulton County voted to cut water and sewer rates by 4 percent starting Feb. 1, 2013. It's not a lot of money, but it will be savings.

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners voted at their Dec. 19 meeting to cut the rates through approval of the 2013 water & sewer budget. County water and sewer customers will enjoy the lowest rates in metro Atlanta, according to a news release from the county's Public Affairs manager, Jessica A. Corbitt-Dominguez.

CurrentNew$3.02 $2.90

Sewer Rates

(per 1,000 gallons)CurrentNew$5.74 $5.51

For a customer using approximately 6,000 gallons per month, the saving for water and sewer will be approximately $25 per year. If water consumption is 12,000 gallons per month, the saving for water and sewer will be approximately $50 per year.

Fulton County provides water and sewer services in most of Fulton County north of the Chattahoochee River. The county also provides sewer services in South Fulton and City of Sandy Springs.

During the Dec. 19 meeting, the Board of Commissioners approved the final 2013 budgets for the Fulton County Water and Sewer Revenue Fund and the Water & Sewer Renewal and Extension Fund.
