Local Resident Wins Tickets for Taste of Alpharetta

Just stopping by the one day last week has one local resident ready to start sampling food at tonight's Taste of Alpharetta, as she won $25 worth of tickets.

A National Travel and Tourism Week celebration helped draw more visitors to the Alpharetta Welcome Center and Claudia Varner of Alpharetta was rewarded with tickets to the 2012 Taste of Alpharetta. Varner took home $25 worth of tickets, enabling her to enjoy samples from 52 of Alpharetta’s restaurants.

Taste of Alpharetta runs from 5-10 p.m. today, May 10, in downtown Alpharetta. Streets on the west side of downtown–west of GA 9–are closed.

Park and walk lots will be open at Milton Center off Canton Street and the PAL Gym off Haynes Bridge Road (behind City Hall). Parking lots with shuttle buses will be open at Publix and at Wills Park.

National Travel & Tourism Week is annually recognized the first full week of May to spotlight the economic impact of tourism to an area.  In observance of the event, The Alpharetta Welcome Center provided refreshments along with information about our city and the services of the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau to visitors who stopped by.

“Travel and tourism supports 14.4 million jobs across the nation, including many right here in Alpharetta,” said Janet Rodgers, President and CEO of the Alpharetta CVB. “We welcome the opportunity to show our appreciation to visitors and residents alike and showcase Alpharetta as a great place to visit, live, work and play.”

The Welcome Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
