Milton Student Completes FBI Youth Leadership Program

Jack Miller represented the FBI National Academy Associates' Georgia Chapter at the annual week-long leadership program.

MILTON, GA -- Rising Milton High School sophomore Jack Miller was chosen to represent the FBI National Academy Associates' Georgia Chapter at the FBI Youth Leadership Program.

Each chapter is allowed to send a student to represent their chapter during the week-long program, which was held June 23 through July 1 in Quantico, Virginia.

While attending the program, Jack took hours of leadership classes, toured FBI facilities, including the Hostage Rescue Team Training Center and the Firearms Training Unit, toured Washington, D.C., met with FBI Director James Comey; and took part in a 5K obstacle course to conclude the program in the woods surrounding the FBI Academy.

To be selected, a student must have "demonstrated high academic standards and good citizenship, and they must be nominated by an FBINA graduate in good standing," the FBI National Academy Associates states on its website.

Chapter representatives interview the candidates and select their choice to attend the program. The candidates’ qualifications are reviewed by the Executive Office and the YLP coordinator, who make the final selection.

While the program is not offered exclusively for those choosing a career in law enforcement, interested candidates should possess a desire to gain knowledge in the American criminal justice system, including police organization, leadership and the structure and operation of criminal courts.

At Milton High School, Jack serves as president of the sophomore class. Other activities include serving as a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, junior varsity football team, Milton FLIGHT program mentor, Milton Police Explorers program and an usher at Christ the Sheperd Lutheran Church.
