Hey kids, you are running out of time to register for the United Healthcare IronKids Alpharetta Triathlon, which will be held Sept. 16 at Wills Park.
Worried about the cost? The Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau, in partnership with IronKids, is giving about 20 free entries to this year's race. Young athletes ages 6-15 may register on the Alpharetta CVB website. Winners will be drawn on Aug. 1.
More than 1,300 youth have competed in the IronKids event in Alpharetta, which has been the largest youth triathlon in the country for the past three years, according to a news release from the Alpharetta CVB. The race will include three divisions:
- Junior- ages 6 to 8
- Intermediate- ages 9 to 11
- Senior-ages 12 to 15
All participants will receive a commemorative medal upon crossing the finish line and the top three athletes within each age category will be awarded a placement trophy.
“We are very excited that Alpharetta will be hosting the IronKids Triathlon again this year and that we can offer 20 young athletes free registration,” says Janet Rodgers, President and CEO of the Alpharetta CVB.
Rodgers points visitors to the city to the 23 hotels in Alpharetta, which also can be found through her organization's website.
