Celebrate Founders Memorial Garden on Jan. 26th at ACC Library
By Rhiannon Eades

Celebrate the 75th anniversary of UGA’s Founders Memorial Garden on Sunday, January 26, at 3:00 p.m. at the Athens-Clarke County Library.

John Waters, a professor in the Historic Preservation Graduate Program at the UGA College of Environment and Design, will discuss the varied and extensive activities to commemorate the garden’s Diamond Jubilee.

At the time of its creation, the Founders Memorial Garden was the largest project undertaken by any state garden club. The two and a half acre garden is recognized as a major influence on the creation of the landscape quality that now characterizes UGA’s campus.

This program will be held in the library’s Appleton Auditorium, and it is co-sponsored by the Athens Historical Society and the Athens-Clarke County Library Heritage Room. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, please call (706) 613-3650, ext. 350. The library is located at 2025 Baxter Street, Athens.
