Local Dancers Accepted into National Ballet Company Summer Programs

Six Athens-area dancers have been accepted into national ballet summer programs.

All six dancers are from the Studio Dance Academy in Athens.

  • Caroline Taylor, a junior at Prince Avenue Christian School, auditioned for and was accepted into the advanced level Atlanta Ballet summer intensive and the Houston Ballet summer intensive. She will spend the summer in New York City training with Steps on Broadway, the Ailey School and American Ballet Theatre (ABT).
  • Catie Kirch, a sophomore at Cedar Shoals High School, completed successful auditions and was accepted to both the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) summer intensive and the Atlanta Ballet advanced level summer intensive, and will attend the American Ballet Theatre summer intensive program.
  • Abigail Golden, an eighth grader at Malcom Bridge Middle School, successfully auditioned for and will attend the advanced level summer intensive at Atlanta Ballet.
  • Jessica Fraedrich, a sophomore at Monsignor Donovan High School, auditioned for and was accepted into the advanced level summer intensive at Atlanta Ballet.
  • Allison Simpson, a freshman at Prince Avenue Christian School, successfully auditioned for and will attend the Atlanta Ballet intermediate level summer intensive.
  • Paytton Pelkey, a sophomore at Masters Academy, completed a successful audition for and was accepted into the intermediate level of the Atlanta Ballet summer intensive program, and will attend Ad Deum Contemporary in Houston, Texas and North Central Ballet in Fort Worth, Texas.

Studio Dance Academy, located behind Trader Joe’s off Epps Bridge Parkway, hosts performance dance companies for ages five to young adult, and offers classes in a variety of dance styles and levels for ages three to adult. Since its inception in 2009, Studio Dance Academy has become home to more than 125 dancers and their families. Studio instructors share a common desire to produce technically correct, well-rounded, and self-confident dancers. Studio companies enjoy performing throughout the community and hosting annual events such as the Project Dance benefit.
