Lyndon House Arts Center to Host Workshops Led by International Artists
The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department will present a series of Artists Workshops featuring internationally renowned artists at Lyndon House Arts Center in March.Area artists will have the rare opportunity to further their artistic skills with instruction and insight offered by artists with internationally recognized reputations.
“The Drama of the Figure” four-day workshop is scheduled Monday, March 3-Thursday, March 6 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and features the artist Kevin Beilfuss. A graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago and OPA Regional and National Award recipient, Beilfuss will explore color, lighting, and symbolism. The workshop will emphasize a more intuitive way to look at drawing and painting. Basic figure drawing skills are required. The workshop registration fee is $625 for ACC residents and $675 for non-residents, and includes breakfast and lunch daily, plus art excursions. Overnight accommodations are available at the art-inspired, eco-chic Hotel Indigo Athens; rooms are $129 per night (reservations: 706-546-0430). Pat Fiorello will lead “Water Color Workshop: Painting Flowers Loose, Fresh, and Easy.” This workshop is scheduled for Thursday, March 20 – Saturday, March 22 from 9;00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.. Fiorello paintings have been in more than 70 juried shows and more than a dozen one-woman exhibits, including being the featured artist at the State of Georgia Botanical Garden and Callaway Gardens. Her paintings hang in numerous private collections and she has taught in the Caribbean, France, and Italy, among many places. Pat's expertise will enhance your skills and confidence, as she shares her techniques on color, composition, brush strokes and thevaried characteristics of watercolor. The workshop registration fee is $575 for ACC residents and $625 for non-residents, and includes breakfast and lunch daily, plus art excursions. Overnight accommodations are available at Holiday Inn Athens; rooms are $109 per night (reservations: 706-549-4433). Registration for this workshop ends Friday, March 7.
