S. Fulton Blaze Injures Several People, Leaves Others Unaccounted For

The origin and cause of a fire Wednesday at Oswego Trail are unknown.

SOUTH FULTON, GA — A massive house fire in the 7200 block of Oswego Trail injured multiple people and left others unaccounted for Wednesday morning, Lt. Eric Jackson of South Fulton Fire Rescue said.

First responders were dispatched around 4:45 a.m. to the two-story, single-family home, which had heavy smoke and flames, Jackson said.

Jackson said a police sergeant was first on the scene and attempted to get into the home but could not enter because of the heavy flames.

The roof began to collapse after firefighters arrived, Jackson said, noting stairwells had been burned.

It took 45 minutes to get the fire under control, according to Jackson.

Jackson said the people inside of the home were asleep at the time of the fire.

Several people were taken to the hospital.

As of 10:15 a.m., crews were still on the scene tending to hot spots and helping the structure to cool, Jackson said.

"This house is very badly destroyed," he said. "It's completely destroyed."

The origin and cause of the fire are unknown.

The extent of injuries are unknown.

It is unknown if the people who were affected by the fire are related, and their ages are unknown.
