Job description: Under regular supervision, performs clerical and administrative work to ensure that the functions of the Board of Elections and Registration are carried out properly. Work involves handling the responsibility for providing support throughout the election and voter registration process such as preparing voting machines for all elections, stocking supply boxes for each precinct, assisting with absentee and advance voting, assisting in the preparation of ballots, and assisting in the consolidation and certification of official election returns; performing daily office duties such as bookkeeping, composing and filing all correspondence, maintaining and ordering office supplies, processing and maintaining records and files, and issuing and preparing purchase orders; serving as secretary for the Board of Elections and Registration; processing requests from citizens and political candidates; and receiving calls and greeting visitors. Employee must exercise independent judgment and initiative in carrying out assignments. Employee must also exercise considerable tact and cour¬tesy in extensive public contact. Reports to the election supervisor.
Qualifications: Requires a high school diploma supplemented by two to three years of experience in office management, business administration, management, involving public contact, preferably in a board of elections office or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
