Brookhaven, Chamblee PD Part of Federal Anti-Crime Task Force
The U.S. Department of Justice recently granted nearly $500,000 to fight gang violence, drug crime in DeKalb.

BROOKHAVEN, GA — The Brookhaven and Chamblee police departments are part of a task force designed to fight gang and drug crime in DeKalb County.
The U.S. Department of Justice recently granted nearly $500,000 to combat gang violence and drug crime in DeKalb County, according to the Chamblee police department.
The funds will be used to form the DeKalb Project Safe Neighborhoods Task Force, which will be coordinated by the Atlanta U.S. Attorney’s Office. DeKalb's police department is also a member of the task force.

“Gang violence and gun crime are two of the most formidable obstacles we face in ensuring that every American lives in safe and secure communities,” according to a statement from U.S. Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch.
The Project Safe Neighborhoods “grant will allow the DeKalb Task Force to implement a multi-faceted approach to reduce gang violence and gun-related crimes,” said U.S. Attorney John Horn.

The task force will collect data and analysis conducted by Applied Research Services, a national consulting firm with PSN experience.
As part of the President’s 21st Century Task Force on Policing, the Rehoboth Baptist Church in Tucker will provide training to youth in the selected areas.
