Qualifying Begins Monday For Brookhaven Elections

Qualifying Begins Monday For Brookhaven Elections


Qualifying begins at 9:30 am on Monday, August 13, for t.

Two candidates have already announced their intentions to run for office: , and .

Qualifying will continue through Wednesday, August 15. Brookhaven voters will choose a mayor and four city council members on Nov. 6.

The qualifying fees for the mayoral election is $480, while candidates for Brookhaven's four city council seats must pay $360 to make the race. Candidates must file notice at the DeKalb County Voter Registration & Elections office, 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, in Decatur.

Brookhaven's first mayor will serve a term through 2015. Council members from districts 1 and 3 will serve through 2015, while city councilors from districts 2 and 4 will serve through 2013.
