A car traveling down Wieuca Road Tuesday morning swerved into a utility pole, knocking down power and telephone lines across the road.

A Sandy Springs Fire and Rescue firefighter on the scene said the woman involved in the accident was not hurt. Some Sandy Springs units respond to city of Atlanta calls in north Buckhead.

The Atlanta Police Department 911 call map said the accident occurred at 9:12 a.m. Traffic was blocked on Wieuca Road for several hours between Herrington and Lakemoore drives, forcing cars to detour.

APD spokesperson Kim Jones said she had no information on the accident.

Georgia Power spokesperson Carol Boatwright said five houses on Wieuca Road lost power and that utility company crews would have to replace the pole and restring the wires.

A Georgia Power crew replaced the pole and restrung the utility lines, including AT&T's telephone lines, restoring power by early afternoon. See the accompanying video for the Ga. Power crew at work.
