E. Rivers Principal's Post Open

David White announces he'll remain in APS administrative role

E. Rivers Principal's Post Open

Principal David White announced on Thursday that he will remain in his APS administrative role and not return to the school next fall.

White told E. Rivers parents in an e-mail that he will not be back as the school's principal. He's been interim director of the APS' School Reform Team 4, serving the city's northside, including Buckhead. Under Superintendent Erroll B. Davis Jr.'s school restructuring plan, the system would be reorganized into 10 clusters corresponding to its high schools.

Sabrina Hayes has been serving as the school's interim principal since White filled the SRT-4 position after its previous administrator left in wake of the APS cheating scandal. APS late Wednesday afternoon posted the E. Rivers principal's position as a vacancy on its web site.

E. Rivers, now severely overcrowded, is scheduled to be rebuilt beginning in September 2013 when its students will use the present site. The construction is scheduled to take 18 months under Davis' school plans. Middle school students will use the present site, with a new high school slated to open that fall.
