Five Things To Do This Weekend

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.  Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and places to explore.

1. Gotye

When/Where: Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Chastain Park Amphitheater, 4469 Stella Dr. NW

Why Go: Gotye, Missy Higgins and Jonti perform.

Price: $59

2. Keep Atlanta Beautiful: Community Recycling Center in Buckhead

When/Where: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2715 Peachtree Rd. NE

Why Go: Recycle your old electronics safely. Click here for details, guidelines and accepted items.

Price: Free for most items. There is a $10 handling fee - cash only - per TV and fees for latex paint recycling which vary by can size.

3. Bank of America and Merrill Lynch’s "Museums on Us"

When/Where: Saturday and Sunday at Atlanta History Center, 130 W Paces Ferry Rd. NW

Why Go: Bank of America is offering its customers the Museums on Us program which gives bank cardholders free admission to some of the most exciting cultural venues nationwide, including the Atlanta History Center and the High Museum of Art.

Price: Free

4. Taste Of Atlanta

When/Where: Saturday and Sunday at Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center, 800 Spring St. NW

Why Go: Patrons sample delicious dishes, sip robust wines, craft beers, and innovative cocktails.

Price: $25; Buy Tickets

5. Atlanta Streets Alive

When/Where: Sunday, 2 to 6 p.m. at N Highland Ave. NE & Virginia Ave. NE

Why Go: Atlanta Streets Alive will feature almost five miles of car-free community space to ride your bike, walk, play and dance.

Activities including local acoustic musicians, a capella groups, marching bands and classes (such as Salsa, Yoga and Zumba), will extend down two miles of North Highland, over one mile of Virginia Avenue, two miles of the brand new Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail, and complete a loop at Elizabeth Street and Highland Avenue.
