Georgia Boy Choir to Give Free Concert Saturday in Buckhead

Georgia Boy Choir cancels annual Georgia Boy Choir Festival due to this week's ice storm.

Georgia Boy Choir to Give Free Concert Saturday in Buckhead
While it does now seem as though the brunt of the storm has passed, its effects are still lingering and the Georgia Boy Choir has decided to cancel its annual Georgia Boy Choir Festival, slated to be held on Friday and Saturday, February 14th and 15th, culminating with a Grand Finale Concert on the evening of the 15th.

“Our constituency is spread all across the north Georgia area,” Artistic Director David White said. “And many have been affected to a greater degree than those of us in the immediate metropolitan area may be aware. Many of those who were coming from out of town as Guest Participants in the Festival have let us know that they are now unable to get here. So, regrettably, it has been determined that the best course of action at this point is to cancel the Georgia Boy Choir Festival.”

The Festival typically draws more than 250 young men from across the United States together for a day and a half of music making, allowing them the opportunity to strengthen their skills, celebrate their art, and deepen their sense of community. All boys from 3rd grade through 12th grade are welcome to participate, and no music experience is required.

In addition to those boys who register individually, the Festival also draws some of the finest Boy Choirs in the country. The nature of the Festival allows boys with little or no prior experience to join their voices with these great choirs and achieve a very high level of artistry in a relatively short period of time. The Choir will begin right away communicating with those who had registered as Guest Participants or purchased tickets to the Grand Finale Concert to let them know of this change in plans and how they can be reimbursed.

The Georgia Boy Choir will still give a FREE CONCERT to the community that has been indoors braving the treacherous ice storm for the majority of the week. Unfrozen: the Concert, will be held in the Peachtree Road United Methodist Church Chapel on Saturday at 7:00pm. All are welcome to attend.
