State. federal situation to be discussed by World Affairs Council panel

An expert panel will discuss federal and state immigration law from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the , 2890 North Fulton Drive. The briefing is sponsored by the World Affairs Council of Atlanta's Young Leaders

The Georgia Legislature in its last session passed one of the nation's toughest laws against illegal immigrantion, and federal immigration law reform has been one of the nation's hottest issues for several years.

The panel includes Jerry Gonzales, executive director of the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials; State Rep. Scott Holcomb of Atlanta's 82nd District; attorney Aimee Clark Todd of Troutman Sanders; retired immigration judge Grace A. Sease; and attorney Amna Shirazi of the Shirazi Law Group.

The cost is $10 for World Affairs Council members and $15 for non-members. Registration is required.
