One Dead in Attempted Buckhead Jewelry Store Robbery

Atlanta, GA -- An armed robber was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon at Cachet Jewelry Store in Buckhead.

A store employee told police that a man armed with a handgun attempted to rob the Piedmont Road store around 2:30. The employee said he shot the man in self-defense, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

The alleged robber was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later died, reports Channel 2 Action News.

Police do not expect to file charges against the store employee. They also believe the deceased did have a gun in his hand when he was shot.

According to the store owner, the suspect visited the store last week.
