Peachtree Presbyterian Church will have built its 150th house with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity on Saturday, April 26. The dedication ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on Browns Mill Road in Atlanta.

Peachtree Presbyterian, located in Buckhead, has been building homes with Atlanta Habitat since 1988. For 26 years, the church has supplied volunteers, funding, prayer and other support to help Atlanta Habitat achieve its mission of building green, quality homes in partnership with working families. In terms of impact, Peachtree Presbyterian has built a little more than 10 percent of the homes Atlanta Habitat has built in total.

“Our relationship with Habitat is an important part of our commitment to the Atlanta community,” Jay Madden, Pastor for Mission at Peachtree Presbyterian, said in a news release. “I know that each of the 150 homes that we have built has made a difference in the lives of the recipients and greatly impacted our volunteers.”

Although Peachtree Presbyterian has reached this outstanding milestone, there is a young family who is also celebrating a major achievement. Demetrius and Taneshia will own this 150th house and raise their newborn son in a safe and loving environment near family and friends.

Peachtree Presbyterian Church is one of Atlanta’s largest congregations, has built more Habitat for Humanity homes than any congregation in the U.S.

Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, one of more than 1,500 U.S. affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to homeownership for working families. Since 1983, volunteers from corporations, from faith-based and civic organizations have worked in partnership with qualified homebuyers to construct affordable, green, quality homes, which are purchased through no-interest mortgages. To date, Atlanta Habitat has built nearly 1,300 homes in the city of Atlanta and Fulton County.
