Canton Man in Coma Following "Horrific" Motocross Accident

Friends and family of Zack and Samantha "Sam" Kelley have created a crowdfunding page to help with medical and other expenses.

CANTON, GA -- The Cherokee County community is once again coming to the aid of some of its neighbors who are in need during a time of crisis.

Scores of residents have donated to the Help Zack and Sam Kelley crowdfunding campaign, which helps the Canton couple pay for any expenses related to a serious off-roading accident.

Over the weekend, Zack Kelley was involved in a "horrific" motocross accident in south Georgia, the campaign organized by Cherokee Sheriff's Office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker, Sam (Samantha) Kelley's uncle, states.

Zack Kelley, who was airlifted to Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, has been in a coma since the accident. He's also suffered from a collapsed lung and several broken bones, Baker said.

As of Wednesday afternoon, more than $8,200 has been raised, far exceeding the $5,000 goal set by organizers.

"We have no idea what the future will hold," Baker states. "Sam and other family members are obviously by his side."

While Sam Kelley is with her husband, the couple's family and close friends are petitioning residents to do what they can to help the pair weather this sudden setback.

Any money donated to the Kelleys will be used towards medical costs as well as helping with Sam Kelley's lodging and daily expenses.

Baker said Zack, who owns a grading business, could be facing months of recovery, and Sam Kelley will be staying in a hotel in August for the near future.

"The medical costs will be astronomical, but anything you can donate to help with Sam’s lodging and daily expenses would be appreciated," he added.
