Overview: I recently had dinner at Goin' Coastal, a quaint little seafood restaurant in downtown Canton. I’ve been wanting to try it for a long time now. I love seafood, and sometimes it’s hard to find a good, fresh seafood restaurant in this area. So I decided to try it, and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a little pricey, so this may be my special-occasion spot.

Décor: Goin' Coastal is set in a strip of old historic buildings in downtown Canton. The building gives the restaurant a great atmosphere of old brick paired with modern fixtures. It’s a cozy setting with chalkboard menus on the wall. There’s a bar in front of the open kitchen and wooden tables covered with brown paper for dining.

Entrée: The restaurant is known for its sustainable seafood choices. Goin' Coastal is committed to serving only the freshest seafood. The daily fish choices are written on the chalkboard every day.

The salmon special with corn and mango salsa was delicious. It was a wild Alaskan salmon, which tastes so fresh and bold. The fried seafood platter was also good and came with two sides. Sides include collard greens, jalapeno corn pudding, cheese grits and mashed potatoes.

Portions are very generous. Entrees range from $16 to $27.

Service: The staff is very friendly. Although the restaurant was crowded, they were attentive to every need.

Hours: Goin' Coastal is open Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Saturday from 5 to 10:30 p.m.

Goin Coastal is at 125 W. Main St. It’s approximately 10 miles from Woodstock and four miles from Holly Springs.
