Man Dies After Falling 20 Feet In Workplace Accident

A 22-year-old man died Friday morning from injuries he sustained in a workplace accident north of Canton.

Deputies with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office responded to a call around 9:15 a.m. at 2300 Airport Industrial Drive outside of Ball Ground.
Workers were installing a new roof on a new building for Custom Floral Design when one of the men fell about 20 feet onto a concrete floor, sheriff’s office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker said in a press release.

Tim Cavender, spokesperson for Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Service, added that it appears the man was on the roof and went through some insulation before he landed on the concrete.
The man, identified as Thomas Williams of Tennille, was transported to Northside Hospital-Cherokee where he died from his injuries.
Sheriff’s office detectives and representatives of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the incident.
