Bartow Fire Aids In Boat Fire On Lake Allatoona
Bartow County firefighters helped Cherokee County firefighters after a boat caught fire at a dock off Lake Allatoona.

ACWORTH, GA — Firefighters from Bartow and Cherokee counties responded to a boat fire at a Lake Allatoona dock.
Shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services were alerted to a fire at Harbor Town Marina on Galts Ferry Road on Lake Allatoona.
A caller to Cherokee County 911 said a boat was on fire at the dock, but no one was on board. A portion of the dock was also on fire.

Several units went to the scene, including a fire boat from Bartow County Fire and Rescue. The Corps of Engineers and the Department of Natural Resources were also notified of the fire.
Cherokee County firefighters were able to get the fire under control, and later requested Cherokee County hazmat to respond to assist in the absorption of any hydrocarbons in and around the lake.

One boat was destroyed, and another boat nearby was also damaged.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the boat fire is under investigation.
