Cartersville to Mark National Day of Prayer

Observance to be held on Thursday.

Cartersville will mark the National Day of Prayer this Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Bartow County Courthouse, 135 W. Cherokee Ave.

Ministers will gather at the annex (the old Cartersville First Baptist Church) to gather in prayer at 11 a.m., while the noon service will focus on community leaders.

In addition to prayer, the service will include a color guard, choir and drum corps.

National Day of Prayer is an annual service held on the first Thursday of May. The occasion invites all faiths to participate, and was created in 1952 by a U.S. Congress joint resolution signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
