Teen's Body Recovered From Etowah River In Cartersville (UPDATED)
The teen was swimming with friends in the river along Old River Road between S.R. 293 and U.S. 41 when he went under and never resurfaced.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The body of a teenager who drowned in the Etowah River was recovered Tuesday afternoon in Bartow County.
Bartow County EMS, as well as officials from the Bartow County Fire Department and Sheriff's Office, Georgia State Patrol, Cartersville Fire Department and Georgia Department of Natural Resources, all responded to the call of the incident around 1:38 p.m. July 18 on Old River Road between S.R. 293 and U.S. 41/Joe Frank Harris Parkway in Cartersville.
Witnesses told emergency responders that the male, identified as Sergio Cadenas of Dallas, was swimming in the river when "he began to struggle (and) then went under the surface of the water," Bartow EMS spokesperson Brad Cothran told Patch.

"The friends tried to find him without success," he added.
The 17-year-old's body was recovered around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday roughly 200 to 300 yards from where he was last seen, Cothran added.
