Forsyth Man Upset Special Needs Child Handcuffed at School

A Forsyth County man is looking for answers after learning that school resource officer recently handcuffed his 11-year-old special needs son while at a Gainesville elementary school.

As WSB TV reports, the boy, who has been diagnosed with autism disorder, was handcuffed in February after a Gainesville police school resource officer said the fifth grader kicked him during an outburst.

While the Gainesville Police Department has communicated that its officer was following procedure, John Brock told the Atlanta news outlet that, “My biggest concern is the excessive use of force on an 11-year-old, especially an 11-year-old who it's been determined has special needs.”
