Search for Elderly Man Ends Safely

An elderly man who was reported missing early Friday was safely located hundreds of miles away from his home, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Robert Miller Ferguson, 83, of Dawsonville, was found near the Georgia/South Carolina state line, a press release stated.

"Arrangements are being made for a family member to bring him home," said Karleen Chalker of the FCSO in an e-mail sent at 7:15 p.m. (Friday).

Ferguson was last seen at his Heron's Point residence (about 17 miles from Cumming) by a healthcare worker Friday morning. The healthcare worker left to go get groceries and when he returned Ferguson was gone.

Ferguson was believed to have left the residence in a 1996 red Ford Taurus LX.
