Gwinnett County received a generous donation this week from the Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services.
Commissioners accepted a $104,000 donation from the volunteer-governed organization to be used for home delivery of meals and transportation for senior citizens.
According to a county press release, $79,000 will be ear-marked for home-delivered meals to seniors currently on the waiting list, emergency meals for seniors, and nutritional supplements.
The remainder ($25,000) will be used for transportation for medial appointments and for trips to and from senior service centers.
“Friends is dedicated to meeting needs for Gwinnett seniors and appreciates the opportunity to collaborate with the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners to the needs of our aging population,” Friends’ President John Winters said in the press release.
